Efficacy of Two Toothpaste in Preventing Tooth Erosive Lesions Associated with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Patients suffering from acid reflux due to endogenous causes are often affected by gastroesophageal disease which, in the oral environment, lingual and palatal enamel erosion. As does not have intrinsic ability repair itself, application of alloplastic materials, such as toothpastes is suggestable. The aim this “in vitro” study was compare effectiveness two different preventing erosion disease. Six tooth elements bovine jaws were prepared using a high-speed diamond bur water irrigation. Acid attack simulation carried out 15% HCl hydrochloric solution. After that, with or without fluoride, brushed at sample surface an electric toothbrush standard position force. SEM profilometer analysis performed. Statistically significant difference found average roughness after toothpaste fluoride attack, former offered greater remineralization. No long-term prevention. Fluoridated offer degree remineralization first however, there no prevention independently type.
